If you are new to health coaching, you might be wondering “What does a health coach do?” Or, “How could I benefit from working with a health coach?”
Health coaches create safe, open and confidential spaces where they facilitate conversations so people can create positive change in their life.
These are some of the key areas health coaches work on.
Health coaches:
Focus on helping others reach their self-developed health goals.
Assist with goal setting and actionable steps.
Help clients notice and anticipate obstacles or blind spots that are preventing change.
Recognize people as the experts in their own bodies and current life circumstances.
Provide support and accountability with no judgement.
Assist clients with implementation of protocols that have been prescribed by a practitioner and/or nutritionist.
Use their knowledge in health and wellness to provide valuable information and resources when requested by the client.
Health coaches DO not:
Prescribe medications, supplements or treatments.
Diagnose any possible health conditions.
Provide psychological therapeutic interventions.
Lecture on “what to do”.
Key take away: health coaches seek to support and empower people to make sustainable behavior and lifestyle changes.
